The 2011 refurbishment made many changes here at the Sun, 'Ye Old Deli' that was housed behind the kitchen has gone to make way for Ashley's new state of the art kitchen. So welcome to 'Our Little Shop', proudly placed in the new dining room extension just up the steps off the main drinking bar.
So why a shop in a pub….? Many customers were asking to buy ingredients at Ashley’s regular cookery demonstrations held in the pub, so from there the idea was born. -What a great innovation! so much so that it gained Ashley and Kelly the ‘Innovation of the Year’ 2006 award at the National Publican Awards that year….

So what do we sell? Of course we keep the same ethos in place for keeping commodities as local as possible, Jams and chutney’s from Wheldrake, Honey from Copmanthorpe, Organically grown and milled flour from Spaunton near Pickering and hand made Yorkshire sausages, not to mention all the home made goods such as tubs of ice cream, dressings, freshly baked bread, black pudding….and everything else that the chef's find the time to make in the Sun's kitchen! Item’s from further a field are chosen for their quality and individuality. We also have a ‘Daily Essentials’ section full of all the day to day things that you need in a hurry, - tea bags, baked beans, tins of soup and lots more. As well as some exciting new finds that we have stumbled across over the last few months.
Fresh meat and fish is available and can be ordered for next day pick up from our daily deliveries to the pub kitchens.
Need ingredients for that special dish your making, but don’t want to buy them in large amounts, then we can weigh out exactly what you need from our dry store. This reduces the amount of packaging and wastage. Open everyday!

Ashley's Chocolate Sculpture's & Models....

Self taught 'chocolatier' Ashley has been making bespoke models and displays from the finest Belgium chocolate for many years. All his models and display pieces are specially commissioned to the customers theme or requirements . Enquiries for speciality pieces for corporate events and private celebrations are welcomed. Each piece is painstakingly moulded and crafted by hand over many hours......

Every year a charity piece is made for Martin House Hospice following  different theme but there’s always sweet treats hidden inside the main structure. Always with more than 20 hours of melting, sticking and shaping.The work of chocolate art is displayed at the pub for customers to enjoy, and they are invited to make a donation to Martin House in appreciation. It will then be delivered to the youngsters at Martin House on Christmas Eve. Over the years we have raised over £3,000 for Martin House.
