Chocolate & Shop

Our little shop was founded in 2005 which won us our first national award in 2006 for the Innovation of the Year when we introduced the shopping element to the pub, so we knew we were on the right track from the start.
Our 2011 refurbishment meant our former shop space had to make way for Ashley’s new state-of-the-art kitchen, but we were determined to keep our little shop in business. So, Ye Old Deli became – what else? – Our Little Shop, taking pride of place in the main drinking bar.
As well as our fully stacked shelves of locally produced and homemade items, we can also supply meat, fish, vegetables, cheese and many other items from our daily deliveries from local suppliers. Most items can be sourced for the next day. Our every popular homemade Ice Cream can be taken away too.... Picking from our extensive list of classical, weird and wonderful flavours! Freshly made bread from our kitchen can be ordered up to 9am for same day collection, or give us a call the day before if that's easier. We can also supply a whole range of specially designed hampers for Christmas or Birthday gifts with a difference.
Ashley also produces all of our chocolates in his Chocolate room in the main kitchen, winning the Taste Award in 2016 for his Gin infused Selection! Take home some the award winning chocolates all lovingly packaged or even a couple of his chocolate bars -maybe not an easy task with the vast amount of flavours to choose from. Our new 'Chocolate Plaques' are going down a storm, personalised to any occasion or one with a witty slogan to make your friends chuckle.
So, next time you’re in, why not visit our small but perfectly formed shop and take a few treats home with you?
What could be better than a bespoke sculpture hand-crafted as the centrepiece of your special celebration? Well, how about a bespoke sculpture made of chocolate? Ashley is something of a master craftsman when it comes to creating stunning artworks, models and displays made entirely from fine Belgian chocolate.  Check out the Events page for Chocolate classes in the kitchen or one of Ashley Chocolate Demonstrations in the Pub, which ever one you visit it will be a feast for the eyes...and belly! Each year he painstakingly pieces together individual elements, spending many hours on each private or corporate commission, to produce unique works of culinary art that are both tasteful and incredibly tasty. Recently doing commissioned works for Legal & General, Ladbrookes as well as Wedding favours and special gifts. He also uses his choc tactics to raise money every Christmas for Martin House Hospice, in Boston Spa, near Wetherby. Spending many, many hours melting, sticking and shaping a special annual themed chocolate sculpture with sweet treats hidden somewhere in the main structure. The delicious artwork is then displayed in the pub for customers to enjoy and – generous bunch that they are – donate much-needed money to this worthy local cause. Together, we’ve raised thousands of pounds – and a good many smiles when we deliver the chocolate sculpture for the staff, the children and their families to enjoy on Christmas Eve.
